(Southern California)-- Quality Elusion-- Gelding
Quality Elusion is a three year old gelding that was hurt in his last race on Sunday, and has been retired from racing. Quality Elusion retires with $ 33,000 in earnings from 6 starts.
Quality Elusion is tall and athletic. The exercise rider says he has a smooth way of going and nice to ride. The barn says he is kinda goofy but very kind. Just a fun horse to be around. Quality Elusion stands about 16.1hh. He has a high suspensory injury on the hind leg. He will need a few months of lay up before he should be re-evaluated. Quality Elusion is still at the racetrack.
(Southern California)-- Battle Lou- Gelding
Battle Lou a four year old gelding by E. Dubai is available for adoption. "Lou" is an easy going, laid back horse with a good disposition. He is small at about 15.1 or 15.2hh tops. Lou earned about $ 20,000 and won his first allowance race at GGF before coming to So Cal. He was injured previously with a fractured splint bone had a screw put in his leg and returned to race training. He is showing signs of a fracture again and needs time to heal 4-6 months to ensure he is ready to be a riding horse or another career. He does not require surgery. Battle Lou is probably a bit too fine boned for racing. He is on the hot walker now for exercise. If an organization takes him in, he will have a small bit of sponsorship coming with him for hay costs. Battle Lou is still at the track but would be good if we can have him moved before the end of May.
(Southern California)-- North Fork-- Gelding
Went to visit North Fork and our other foster horses at our Norco location. Here are some new photos of North Fork after having a bath. He is such a good boy. Loves structure, a routine and being groomed. Stands well in the cross ties. Very good ground manners. Such a nice boy. We are working with him to ease some of his anxiety when he is in the arena or round pen for too long. He is fantastic in his stall. He is still learning he isn't on the track.
North Fork is owned by The Second Race but is available for adoption!
Southern California)-- Maybe Yes-- Horse
Maybe Yes (More Than Ready) is a five year old Horse (intact male) that is available for adoption. Maybe Yes has earned $ 111,700 from 20 starts (5-1-4).
Maybe Yes stands about 17hh and per the barn has the best personality, smart and is awesome to ride. Not studdish at all a kind horse. He has an old sesmoid injury. Last work was December 31, 2011. He ...started back and has been galloping for about a week or so and is just too stiff and sore to continue racetraining, so the trainer/owner wants him to find a home.
If you would like a lovely horse than Maybe Yes sounds like a perfect one to add to your barn or family. Maybe Yes is still at the race track.
(Southern California)-- Pacino--- Gelding
Pacino is an unraced, unregistered Thoroughbred gelding that is four years old. Pacino was adopted out by The Second Race at the age of two as a colt that was not registered or named. He was gelded about six months ago. Pacino is looking for a home due to his owner moving out of state next month. There is some urgency in his placement due to the move.
Here is what the owner wrote to us:
Courtney pretty much broke him and we worked with him on the ground to improve his manners. He always had a bit of a hitch in his hind end. Being young and untrained he lacked balance, he was also still growing.
When he started jumping a little, he would become a little sore in his right hind stifle. We would give him medication and time off and return to flat work. He really hasn't been jumped much. We had him ultrasounded by Dr. Mark Secor last month and he told us that "Pacino" had meniscus problems. I can forward you his diagnosis and Vet records. Dr. Secor also gelded him in late December-Early January 2012.
Pacino has grown up quite nicely. He is very handsome and has terrific manners. He is still young and will make someone a nice horse. I can donate buckets, wraps, pads, his blanket and some other things if that would help. Pacino is free to an approved home.
(Southern California)--Tee Martunis-- Gelding---
Update 5/20/12-- We went to visit Tee Martunis (Tuna) and the other foster horses at our Norco location. We took some new photos of Tuna after his bath. He is healing up so well from his ankle fracture and is quite a character. He has developed the knack for undoing any buckle or snap, including removing the fly masks and blankets of the other horses next to him. He and Shelter Cove have become great buddies and are turned out together on a regular basis. He won't wear a fly mask, doesn't like them. He has good ground manners, stands in the cross ties, likes to be groomed and is an all around neat horse.
Tee Martunis is owned by The Second Race but is available for adoption!
(Northern California)-- Causeuirritateme- Gelding-ADOPTED!
Causeuirritateme is a four year old chestnut gelding that has been retired from racing and is looking for a new home. "Cause" retires with $ 6,965 in earnings from 4 starts (1 win). Cause was running at the $ 40,000 Allowance level before his retirement. Cause became sick last year and was nursed back to health by his owner/trainer. He recovered and was brought back into racetraining at the end of December, but the trainer says he doesn't seem to want to be a race horse any longer, so the retirement.
Causeuirritateme stands a bit under 16hh, has a nice temperment and a slender build for a TB. Cause has been turned out to a farm while he awaits adoption.
Causeuirritateme would be suitable as a riding horse after being let down from racing.

(Southern California)-- Gentle Romeo-- Gelding
Gentle Romeo (Benchmark) is an 8 year old gelding that has been retired from racing after being injured during a work at Hollywood Park. Gentle Romeo has earned $ 125,090 from 10 starts. He h...ad a year and half lay up with a previous injury and returned to race training in February and had one race back before his injury. Gentle Romeo stands 17.1hh and has an elegant look about him. Gentle Romeo would be suited as a riding horse after he heals will need 6-8 months off. He is lame in the right front, shin is painful to palpating, x-rays show bone remodeling. He has an old tendon on the left leg, that is not an issue. We have a video of him walking that we can email to anyone interested in adopting this elegant gelding.
If you can give Gentle Romeo the time off that he needs you will have a lovely riding companion in the future. Gentle Romeo will be at a lay up farm for a couple weeks awaiting adoption to let down. But the owner would like him adopted as soon as possible.
