We are always seeking permanent, adoptive homes for the ex-racers that we asked to find a homes for. The Second Race to be successful, must network, network, network. So please feel free to share our services, our horses and our website often! Suggested places to share are: friends, family, retirement organizations, equine sancturies, or other networking channels that might be interested in providing a home for an ex-racehorse. Many of our horses will make excellent pleasure and trail horses, and others are amateur sporthorse prospects for both Western and English riding disciplines. Sharing our horses with trainers of other equine disciplines, therapeutic riding centers and other groups will help us to place them more quickly and efficiently. Please note, not all ex-racers need or want a job, some just want to be your "pet" or companion. We often have horses that fit this bill, to a tee.
Our additional need is for foster families for our horses if they can't be kept at their current location for any length of time. Because we network thoroughout the United States and Canada, the need for fosters is growing rapidly. If you would be interested in fostering a horse for The Second Race please contact us for an application at email@example.com or call 626-733-3815.
If you are currently unable to provide a permanent home for an ex-racehorse or as a foster, but would like to financially contribute to The Second Race and the horses currently in their care you can send a gift (we are not a non profit at this time) to The Second Race, 122 A-E. Foothill Blvd. # 300, Arcadia, CA 91006.
Visit our store ( Go to LINKS) to purchase our logo wear, message t-shirts created by Sharla Sanders, racing artwork, photography or other items donated to The Second Race to support the networking efforts and the horses. (NOTE: If you have items that you would like to donate to us; we are open to racing memorabilia, artwork, photography, jewelry, trips, air fare, transportation and boarding, books and other items of interest to racing enthusiasts or horse lovers. All organizations need help, if you have a service to provide to The Second Race, please do not hesitate to let us know).
We are currently growing "hubs" throughout the United States, we have a growing need in Northern California, and Arizona for foster homes. We are looking to grow The Second Race and it's services in particular to the states where there is not currently an established entity providing a transitional service to the Horsemen at race tracks. We are in need of volunteers that have experience working in or around racetracks, have the ability to gain access to the race track backside and horsemen, to take listings of horses, educate and market The Second Race to the racetrack and horsemen and to solicit fosters in their areas.
If you would be interested in volunteering, please contact Sharla Sanders, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
